¹ Born in 1960 in Arlington, Virginia; Paul McGehee is the youngest of six children who grew to adulthood with an art studio situated in the basement level of his immediate family’s first home. Self-taught, McGehee has been drawing and painting since the formative years of early childhood, with a marked emphasis of his progression as an artist having occurred in the midst of adolescence. An inveterate researcher and collector of historical memorabilia, a vast majority of McGehee’s most celebrated works capture the essence of a bygone era, the nostalgic qualities of many of his paintings separating him from his peers in the industry. A charter member of the American Society of Marine Artists (A.S.M.A., note the presence of this abbreviation following his signature in the print’s margin area), a substantive volume of his work has been exhibited in the U.S. Congressional halls of Washington, D.C., as well as the World Trade Center in New York City (Prior to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that claimed 2,996 lives, wounding more than 6,000). McGehee is also a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club in New York, the Steamship Historical Society of America, and Ducks Unlimited, the latter organization of which he is a regular contributor as a means of aiding their waterfowl conservation efforts.

² Remarques are original pencil drawings executed by hand and oftentimes positioned in the lower left-hand corner of the print’s margin area. Remarque inclusive prints are often limited to a production set of 50, with each of the numbered variants indicating a specified order of manufacture.
